What can I expect from my first treatment?

At the initial consultation, you will be asked about your personal details (i.e., name, address, date of birth, GP’s details); your lifestyle, (i.e., jobs, sport, hobbies, alcohol consumption, smoking, stress levels); your medical history; and, of course, the reason you require treatment. This information combined with a full examination, will help to determine specific problem areas so relevant treatment and appropriate rehabilitation advice can be given.
Subsequent treatments will focus more on how you felt after the last treatment, if you’ve had any problems between treatments, how you’re getting on with any rehabilitation advice given, and proceeding with the course of treatment.

    Will I feel any pain?

You are likely to feel some discomfort during the massage treatment. However, this should only be discomfort and should not be excruciating pain! It is important that you say when you feel pain and how much pain you are experiencing. The treatment should be adjusted to suit your needs, and your pain threshold!

Are there any side effects of Remedial Massage?

You may feel sleepy after a treatment, and you may even have a headache. This is because massage releases a lot of toxins that have built up in your muscles, and releases them into you blood stream. The best thing to do to reduce this is to drink plenty of water before and after the treatment. This helps flush the toxins out of your system more quickly.

You may also feel a little sore the next day. Don’t worry – this is completely normal. After 12 - 24 hours, you should feel great!
